The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) in association with Pax of Nagoa Sports Club distributed full kit to 108 trainees from Nagoa Football Development Centre at the hands of Aleixo da Costa, Member Secretary GFDC and Dr. Rufino Monteiro, Chairman of GFDC. Also present at the function were Sr. Claret Varela, headmistress of St. Joseph Convent High School; Olympia Pereira, headmistress of Our Lady of Succour High School and member of Pax of Nagoa Sports Club.
“All of you trainees have the potential to become rising stars if not stars in the future. There are ample of opportunities awaiting for you. I am following the on-going inter centre tournaments and not happy with the performance being put up by Nagoa and urge you’ll to do better. If you’ll do well here you will go higher,” said Aleixo.
Dr. Rufino Monteiro, Chairman of GFDC requested the kids to balance their time between study and play. He also stressed on the importance of studies while training regularly at the same time. “During our childhood days were never knew what a kit was and used to play barefoot. You also have this lovely ground whereas for us we used to play in the fields. What we did not get during our childhood we at GFDC are trying to give you so that you’ll can shine and come up but at the same time education is also important,” said Dr. Rufino.
Olympia Pereira, headmistress of Our Lady of Succour High School thanked GFDC for training the students from her school and taking keen interest in their growth. She also urged them to continue with this support in the
