GFDC Benaulim, GFDC Arambol and GFDC Dona Paula emerged winners in the 6th Edition of the GFDC Rising Star Inter Centre Football Festival final held at the SAG Athletic Stadium, Bambolim on Saturday.

Six teams played for three titles of the football festival. In U-10 boys category GFDC Benaulim beat GFDC Colvale, 2-0; in the U-13 boys category GFDC Arambol defeated GFDC Cuncolim, 2-0 and GFDC Dona Paula got the better of GFDC Navelim via tie breaker, 2-1 in the girls U-13 category.

GFDC has been conducting this largest grassroots football development program for the last five years in the country.

The GFDC Member Secretary, Aleixo Da Costa expressed pleasure over the success of the inter centre tournament and the intensity in the level of participation from trainees witnessed this year.

“I congratulate the winners and runners up of this tournament. We have to accept defeat, enjoy victories and then rededicate ourselves to improve. In the last seven years we have been successful in developing young footballers in the state. I would like to thank my coaches and team at GFDC,” he said.

Most valuable player U-10 boy’s category: Nathan Santamaria (Colvale)

Most valuable player U-13 boy’s category: Delwin Coelho (Arambol)

Most valuable player U-13 girl’s category: Velanda D’Silva (Navelim)

Best goalkeeper U-10 boy’s category: Carrison Rodrigues (Benaulim)

Best goalkeeper U-13 boy’s category: Shawn Viegas (Cuncolim)

Best goalkeeper U-13 girl’s category: Jyoti Prajapati (Navelim)

Outstanding player U-10 boy’s category: Cyaden Rodrigues (Benaulim)

Outstanding player U-13 boy’s category: Munna Roy (Arambol)

Outstanding player U-13 girl’s category: Ashmisha Hadkonkar (Dona Parul)
